Eastlink invests heavily in Camrose and Slave Lake — $2M fibre optic build well underway

Camrose, Alberta – People in Camrose will soon have access to state-of-the-art fibre connectivity for Internet, TV and phone services. Eastlink, the Maritime family owned and operated company that recently purchased LynxNet, has already begun work to build fibre optic connectivity into both Camrose and Slave Lake.

“We have a proven track record of investing in and building world class fibre networks into smaller communities delivering the kind of advanced Internet and TV services usually found only in larger urban centres,” says Lee Bragg, CEO of Eastlink. “We’re looking forward to leveraging the strengths and successes of both Eastlink and LynxNet to fully modernize telecommunications services in these communities.”

Larry McLaren, General Manager Camrose confirms that upgrade work is well underway. “We’re really pleased with the speed by which the entire team is advancing this fibre optic build. There’s still plenty to do but we are confident that by the summer, the build will be complete and customers, current and new, will see immediate benefits.”

Mr. McLaren noted that the company intends to keep the community informed on progress with updates posted on the LynxNet website and in local media, as well as community events. Eastlink has invested over $165 million in the towns it serves in Alberta over the last 10 years, bringing state-of-the-art, high speed Internet services (fastest internet service available in Alberta), HDTV, and competitive telephone services to towns like Grande Prairie, Cold Lake, Fox Creek, Three Hills, Bonnyville, St. Paul, Wetaskiwin, Whitecourt, and Mayerthorpe to name just a few.

“When we made our initial announcement in January, we said then that customers here have our commitment that we will work hard, every day, to deliver an exceptional customer experience, which includes access to our most advanced video and communications services. This fibre upgrade work is part of that commitment,” affirms Mr. Bragg.
