Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children, Eastlink Raise $20,000 for Local Children

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia – Eastlink is pleased to announce that this year's annual telethon has raised over $20,000 for the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children. The 2008 Broadcast for Funds was held on May 11th, 2008 and was broadcast on Eastlink from the Waterfront Campus of Nova Scotia Community College.

The four-hour telethon featured local talent including Steve Lawrence, Universal Language and The Deep River Boys to name a few and was delivered to homes throughout Eastlink's network in Nova Scotia.

"The Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children lauds Eastlink Television for its on going support in our fund-raising activities. The company has been a strong supporter or ours for many years," said George Jordan, Board of Directors, NSHCC. "Eastlink staff and management have been terrific to work with and the fundraiser provided viewer's with a real treat for Mothers on their special day."

The Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children provides contemporary, short-term care for children of all races and cultures. It is committed to maintaining a specialized facility sensitive to the needs of boys, girls and families, and to Nova Scotia's Black community.

"For more than 25 years, Eastlink has partnered with the Home for Colored Children to generate much needed funding," said Michael Smith, Director of Eastlink Television. "We are dedicated to playing an active role in supporting charitable and not-for profit organizations and activities throughout the Atlantic Provinces."
