Eastlink, Kings County to hold Public Meeting on Rural Broadband

Kentville, Nova Scotia - Residents of Kings County will have the opportunity to learn more details about the upcoming expansion of high speed fixed wireless Internet to Kings County. A public meeting will be held at Municipal Council Chambers located at 87 Cornwallis Street, Kentville on February 9th at 7 p.m. All members of the public are welcome to attend as Eastlink and the Municipality solicit public input, explain the process to expand service and answer questions from those in attendance.

As the roll-out of broadband continues, Eastlink is proposing to construct six telecommunication towers to bring high speed fixed wireless internet to the underserved areas of Kings County. The proposed tower sites are located in Lake George, Forest Home, Lakeview, Victoria Harbour, Whites Corner and Harbourville. Eastlink will also discuss how it plans to work with existing wireless high speed providers in the area.

This broadband service is made available under the provincial government's Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia initiative. When the initiative is completed at the end of 2009, the entire province will have high-speed Internet access, making Nova Scotia one of the most connected jurisdictions in North America. This will give our schools, businesses and families the opportunity to connect and compete worldwide.

For more information on the service that Eastlink is providing in the Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia program or to determine if your home or business falls within the coverage area, please visit Eastlink.ca/Internet/BroadbandforRuralNS or call 1-888-345-1111.
