FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 11, 2011

Halifax Rainmen hoop it up with Nova Scotia kids this summer, at the Eastlink/Rainmen Summer Camp for Kids

Halifax, NS Now in its second year, Eastlink-sponsored summer basketball camps will see the Halifax Rainmen hit the hardwood with kids from communities around the province.

The Eastlink/Rainmen Summer Camp for Kids will provide more than 800 Nova Scotia kids, who may not otherwise be able to experience a summer basketball camp, the opportunity to participate in a free basketball clinic with professional basketball players as their coaches including the Halifax Rainmen’s Taliek Brown and DeAndre Thomas from the IBL’s Albany Legends.

“We are delighted to bring this program back to the kids this year,” said Andre Levingston, Halifax Rainmen Owner.

“We embrace the opportunity to further develop basketball in this province. But as importantly, we take great pride in giving back to our community while stressing the importance of fitness, self confidence and team work.”

This summer, the Eastlink/Rainmen Summer Camp for kids will play host to 9 camps engaging youth aged 7-15 from Spryfield, Dartmouth, Halifax, North Preston, Preston, Bridgewater, Eastern Passage, Oxford, and Bedford.

Participating youth are matched to this program with the help of community groups like the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Together, Eastlink and the Rainmen have created a fun, empowering, confidence-building environment for kids that will contribute to making a positive difference in their lives.

“I was thrilled to be on the court last summer with some of the kids who participated in this camp,” said Lee Bragg, CEO Eastlink.

“It’s so important to support the communities where we live, work and play.”
