EastLink TV recognizes that the definition of 'community' is changing. Although geography once defined the scope of our local event coverage, we now look at the community of interest for each event. While an event may be happening locally, it could draw regional, national or even global interest. EastLink TV has responded to this challenging dynamic with a series of new media initiatives.
Web Casting uses our High Speed Internet services to deliver webcasts of local events such as the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge, an international junior hockey event. A webcast involves encoding our broadcast signal so that it can be made available to anyone with a connection to the Internet. Through this exciting initiative, EastLink is able to webcast many of the major events we cover throughout the broadcast year over the Internet.
