In recent months, we have faced not only a pandemic but we have also endured heartbreakingly tragic events including the most recent disturbing incidents of racism. We have been listening carefully, with an open mind and heart, in recognition that we all have a role to play in making change, particularly for our Black colleagues, neighbours and communities.
I’ve had important and deeply meaningful conversations on how as a company we can make a difference. While we don’t have all the answers, I know that doing nothing isn’t an option. We must demonstrate respect and care for our team, our communities and the people we serve through action. With that in mind, we will start by reinforcing zero tolerance for racism in our organization. We will stand against anti-Black hate speech and misinformation by boycotting Facebook. We will use our Community TV platform to help amplify Black voices, stories and experiences. And we will seek guidance to build more culturally diverse and inclusive policies and practices throughout our organization.
We know there is more to do, more education needed, more listening and learning. You have my commitment that we will do everything we can to be part of the change that is long overdue.
