Eastlink Team Makes Volunteering a
Year-Round Tradition
From after school homework programs to coaching sports, we're pleased that so many of our Eastlink team members volunteer in their communities all year round.
In Halifax, Ellen Snook spends time working with Phoenix Youth, a non-profit community-based organization that supports young people and their families with important programs around the region.
"They have incredible staff and programs for youth, families, and the community at large," she says on why she was drawn to Phoenix Youth. "And they're committed to truly offering equal opportunity and support to the communities they serve."
Ellen and her family started volunteering with Phoenix Youth in 2020, cooking dinners for the community and even providing virtual yoga classes through lockdowns caused by COVID-19.
Right now, Ellen concentrates on providing meals at the organization's youth shelter and collecting essential items through donation drives. All of which are supported by the dedicated full-time staff members of Phoenix, who continue to be voices in the community for social justice and providing useful services.
Ellen encourages everyone to visit the Phoenix Youth website to learn more about the organization, make a donation or find out how you can get involved.
