Halifax, NS - The Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League (NSMMHL) and Eastlink confirmed their partnership today for the 2013-2014 hockey season.
“We are passionate about local sports and the communities where we live, work and play," says Jeff Brown, General Manager Eastlink Maritimes. "We are really happy to have the opportunity to partner with the NSMMHL as the league's primary sponsor."
Eastlink and the NSMMHL say this partnership will further elevate the League by supporting the teams and their athletes.
“The Nova Scotia Eastlink Major Midget Hockey League is very pleased to have Eastlink return for a second season as our Title Partner,” says John Sellers, NSMMHL President. “Their ability to showcase the exciting Major Midget brand of hockey and the highly skilled players on all eight Nova Scotia-based teams to fans across the province is second to none.”
Brown explains that Eastlink has a long history of investing in and drawing attention to local sports. "We’re very involved with a number of local sports teams and leagues across the Maritimes including NSMMHL, MHL, QMJHL, as well as the Halifax Rainmen, the Eastlink Premiership Soccer League and Atlantic University Sport."
Eastlink is the Maritimes #1 Sports Channel.
The NSMMHL has established itself as a training grounds for higher levels of hockey as evidenced by a notable league alumnus, Sidney Crosby. The puck officially drops on the 2013-2014 season on Eastlink TV, Wednesday, September 18 at 7 p.m. between the Valley Wildcats and the Halifax McDonalds Major Midget. About the NSMMHL:
The Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League (NSMMHL) is a Midget AAA hockey league and a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League. Comprised of players between the ages of 15 and 17, the NSMMHL consists of eight teams from Nova Scotia including Cape Breton.
