Aylesford, Nova Scotia - The organizers of the Aylesford Christmas Mommies & Daddies fundraiser are filled with joy this December thanks to the success of their annual fundraiser on Eastlink Television. Televised on December 9th, the Christmas Mommies & Daddies program raised more than $20,000, an increase of over 50 percent from 2006.
"Giving back to the communities where we work and live is especially important during the holidays when the need is so great," said Michael Smith, Director of Eastlink Television. "We were overwhelmed by the generosity of local residents who gave more than ever to this important fundraiser. Being a part of these fundraisers and helping charitable organizations raise money that is returned back to the local community to help children and families is really what the season is all about."
Funds raised during the broadcast will be used to purchase Christmas gifts and food hampers for needy families this holiday season.
"The Host Club, Kingston Lions, would like to extend a sincere thank you to the many organizations including Eastlink Television who lent their support; and to the public for their pledges and bids that will ensure needy families in the Coldbrook to Kingston areas will have a more joyful Christmas this year," said Committee Chairs, Lion Ron Osmond and Hank Baak.
Every year, Eastlink Television is involved in many fundraisers, which annually generate over $2 million in funding for many charitable causes. For more information on any of Eastlink Television’s programming, please visit www.Eastlink.ca/eltv/
