Amherst, Nova Scotia - Local cats, dogs and other furry friends are thankful for the generosity and support that Amherst residents showed to the Lillian Allbon Animal Shelter Telethon. The telethon raised more than $14,500 in donations for the care of local animals.
"Giving back to the communities where we work and live is especially important during the holidays when the need is so great," said Michael Smith, Director of Eastlink Television. "It is important that we don’t forget our four legged friends who need food, blankets and toys at Christmas and throughout the year."
The Lillian Allbon Animal Shelter's 18th annual telethon was an unqualified success. "The money raised this year to support the animal shelter was a record amount for us, and we appreciate the assistance we received from Eastlink Television," said Animal Shelter Representative, Kirsteen Thomson.
Thomson also expressed her thanks to community members and volunteers who helped the production run smoothly, and especially those who made a donation to our cause. She added, "We hope to work with everyone again next year!"
Every year, Eastlink Television is involved in many fundraisers, which annually generate over $2 million in funding for many charitable causes. For more information on any of Eastlink Television's programming, please visit www.Eastlink.ca/eltv/
