Halifax, Nova Scotia - Eastlink announced today that it has submitted an application to Industry Canada's Auction for Spectrum Licences for Advanced Wireless Services ("AWS"). Industry Canada will release the names of all parties who have applied to participate in the auction on March 14, 2008, and provide further information concerning qualified bidders on March 31, 2008.
The auction is scheduled to begin on May 27, 2008 and is being conducted by Industry Canada.
One of the objectives of the auction is to foster greater competition and further innovation within the wireless industry.
With the application submitted, Eastlink looks forward to participating in the auction. If successful, Eastlink will build on its success in the telecommunications industry to expand the range of products and services to our customers.
Eastlink does not intend to provide further comment regarding our plans surrounding the auction.
