Eastlink launched local telephone to residents in Sackville and surrounding communities today during a ceremony held at the Sackville Town Hall. Sackville is the only area of New Brunswick that has choice in a local phone service provider.
"We encourage Sackville residents to make the switch to Eastlink Telephone," said Lee Bragg, Co-CEO, Eastlink. "Given that we are the first communications company to provide customers in this area with choice in local phone service, we are confident residents will choose Eastlink to enjoy additional savings and the quality and reliability of our digital network."
Eastlink launched high speed Internet to Sackville customers in April 2004 and will be expanding its telephone service to business customers before the end of April. Eastlink previously brought local phone service to the Mount Allison campus as part of an agreement with the University.
"Sackville is truly a full-service town. With the addition of Eastlink telephone service, our residents, businesses and students will benefit from the advance of choice and competitive pricing in telecommunications services," said Mayor Jamie Smith.
"We are pleased and excited to have Sackville as the only community in New Brunswick that offers a choice in telephone service to our residents,' said David Noddin, President, Greater Sackville Chamber of Commerce. "That's one more reason to do business in Sackville."
"Competition will increase the attractiveness of Sackville and I think increase business opportunities over the long term. Not to mention customers will benefit from additional value when they sign up for an Eastlink Bundle," said Bragg. In addition, any Eastlink bundle customer can add a Rogers Wireless Plan to their account and receive a 15 per cent discount on select wireless airtime plans. Existing Rogers Wireless customers who are also Eastlink bundle customers can take advantage of the offer by renewing their existing wireless agreement through Eastlink.
Customers choosing to switch to Eastlink Telephone can enjoy free installation and are able to keep their existing phone number and jacks. Customers can also subscribe to Eastlink Long Distance, which is available exclusively to Eastlink Telephone customers.
The launch of telephone service brings choice and value to more customers throughout Eastlink service areas. Eastlink's state-of-the-art digital network currently provides Sackville residents with high speed Internet access and digital cable service.
As Canada's largest, family owned and operated telecommunications company with operations in eight Canadian provinces and Bermuda, Eastlink provides residential, business and public sector customers with industry leading video entertainment and communications services.
