Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia – Eastlink Television is partnering with CBC and The Chronicle Herald to present two leaders’ debates, part of Nova Scotia Votes 2009. The debates take place Tuesday, May 19th and Tuesday, June 2nd at 7:00 p.m., and will be televised live on Eastlink Television, CBC and CBC Newsworld.
“Eastlink Television is partnering with CBC and The Chronicle Herald to bring these debates to Nova Scotians,” said Michael Smith, Director of Eastlink Television. “We believe it is important to provide our subscribers with programming that educates on issues significant to the community.”
The debates bring together the leaders of the province’s three political parties who are all vying to be Nova Scotia’s next premier: PC Leader Rodney MacDonald, Liberal Leader Stephen McNeil and New Democrat Leader Darrel Dexter.
The June 2nd debate provides a unique opportunity for the public to pose their own questions via videotape, to the leaders through “Ask @ Eastlink” kiosks that will be set up at Eastlink Television stations across Nova Scotia on May 26th, 27th & 28th from noon to 2:00pm daily (see locations listed below). Individual questions will be videotaped and presented to the leaders during the June 2nd debate.
