Truro, Nova Scotia – Eastlink Television is pleased to have partnered with the Rotary Club of Truro to broadcast the 62nd Annual Rotary Club of Truro Television Auction on May 25th and 26th. The event was a great success, raising over $32,000 for various local and international charitable causes.
“For 17 years, the Rotary Club of Truro has partnered with Eastlink Television. It is the professionalism of their staff, the volunteers and members of the Truro Rotary Club, all working together, that help make this fundraiser such a huge success,” commented Ken MacLean, 2009 Auction Chair. “This year, through this partnership, we were able to raise over $32,000 at our two-day auction, funds that will help us meet our commitments, both locally and internationally.”
Retailers and businesses throughout the region donated hundreds of items and services for the auction, including a number of premier items. Online bidding began on May 11th, culminating in the live broadcast on Eastlink Television.
The annual auction is one of the Truro Rotary Club’s major fundraising activities, which provides financial support for both local and international initiatives. Locally, the club supports a number of community and vocational causes, including Rotary House, a vocational and life skills training centre, while internationally, it contributes to the Polio Plus campaign dedicated to eradicating polio, and various humanitarian causes.
“Eastlink Television is proud to partner with charitable organizations throughout Nova Scotia, including the Truro Rotary Auction, in support of their fundraising endeavours,” said Michael Smith, Director of Eastlink Television. “As an advocate of local programming, it’s important to give back to the communities in which we live and work.”
