St. John’s, NL – Eastlink announced today that it has been selected to move into negotiations with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to build the fibre network portion of the government’s broadband initiative.

Eastlink has a proven track record of building and maintaining fibre networks to enhance the quality and reliability of communications services for both governments and private enterprises.
“Providing this fibre network to the Provincial Government will enable Eastlink to continue the expansion of our broadband network and services to more communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador,” continued McKeen.
In the coming months, Eastlink will work with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to confirm details of the initiative with the goal of beginning construction in the spring of 2010.
