Halifax, Nova Scotia - Eastlink Television will join community television stations from across the country to celebrate Canada's 140th birthday by delivering the nation's Canada Day celebrations LIVE from Parliament Hill. Rogers Television is the host broadcaster and is providing the broadcast feed to cable companies across Canada.
This is the first time Canada's cable companies will broadcast all of the July 1st Canada Day evening festivities live from the nation's capital. Canada Day: Live From Parliament Hill will feature a three- hour event with musical performances, acrobatics and a fireworks spectacular.
Michael Smith, Eastlink's Director of Television, says this the decision to support this initiative was an easy one. “We wanted all our viewer's to have an opportunity to share in Canada's birthday celebration and in the excitement surrounding the wealth of talent we have in this country.” Smith added, "We are extremely pleased that community cable stations have been able to join together to bring this celebration to our local communities across Canada." The program will be broadcast to Eastlink subscribers throughout its service areas.
