Text with 9-1-1 (T9-1-1) is an emergency text messaging service for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired, allowing registered users to communicate with 911 call centres, via text messages from their mobile phone, in the event of an emergency.
T9-1-1 is available in many areas across Canada, but not all. We recommend checking the list before travelling and from time-to-time to keep updated on T9-1-1’s availability.
T9-1-1 is also only available on compatible devices. T9-1-1 functionality is available on all mobile phones we currently sell.
Important Information: Text with 9-1-1 (“T9-1-1”) is not compatible with 9-1-1 WiFi Calling.
To use T9-1-1, you must first sign up for this service by completing our online form. We’ll provide written confirmation once your registration is complete. This process may take as long as two business days. When using this service, you must be using authorized Eastlink devices and SIMs.
